Buying a Camera - Getting the Right Camera at the Right Price

Choosing The Right Camera
So you want to get started in the world of photography as a hobby or career, well you’re going to need a camera.

Anybody wanting to start photography as a hobby or profession should be expecting to spend at least a little bit of cash on equipment; especially on the camera it self. A camera will probably the most expensive item that you buy and so decide carefully, do your research and talk with other photographers if you can. Starting prices are from as little as $100, or you can buy top of the line equipment which will set you back a considerable sum. There are many options for photographers especially new ones, forget all the other accessories and lets decide first on The Camera.

What Is It That You Need?
So why you need a camera, and what do you want to do with it. An digital SLR can be great fun for the hobbyist, but can be bulky if you want to take some photos of  a night out in the town. Here is what you should ask yourself:

- Traditional Film or Digital? tough choice
- Photography for fun, or as a career?
- Basic functions or more advanced like the  manual SLR?
- What do I want to use the photos for, display at home or to sell?

Every camera works different and so there are a wide range of equipment with different operations and each has its own pros and cons; you will need to find a balance. Professional photographers or those wanting to be professionals will not want to sacrifice image quality for cost, the hobbyist may not need that extra quality and may decide on comfort as their main issue your choice.

What Can You Spend?
The sky is really the limit when buying cameras. From as little as $50 or as much as $10,000, it all depends on what you want to use the camera for. Do your research online and at stores and take your time before making your choice. You may wish to rent the model that you like first to get a feel for its operations before committing to buy it. Things to ask.

- Is the camera affordable?
- Are all the features necessary?
- Will this camera work for what i want it to do?
- And again can i afford this camera?

Be honest with yourself about what you need from a camera and set a budget and stick to it. Do your research online, read magazines and talk to your local photo shop.

Even at the cheap end of the market  your camera will probably cover the most of the bases in fact most consumer level cameras shoot perfect photos in 90% of situations. The most important thing is to have fun and take great photos.
